Nathan & Cherie's Story
Losing weight can be more fun when you buddy up with someone that can hold you accountable. Nathan and Cherie Grieve are one of the many couples who have joined the Get Slim Challenge and have been successful working as a team. They share tips on how they were able to motivate each other throughout their weight loss journey. They lost a total of 93 pounds and won $16,000 within six months.

“I know the reason I lost the weight was because I had Cherie helping me and I know that the reason she lost the weight was because I was helping her,” Nathan said.

The couple from Kitchener, Ontario have been married for 11 years and they’ve always battled with their weight.

“My wife and I didn’t even own a scale because we knew we were overweight and the entire world tells us that tidbit every day, so we didn’t need one more thing in our own bathroom telling us that too,” Nathan said.

Their attitude towards weight loss has changed tremendously after they joined the Get Slim Challenge.

“The Challenge was a huge motivator, the fact that I had the opportunity to win money was amazing, but more than the money was the fact that I was losing weight with Bios Life Slim. My wife kept reminding me to drink Slim, she’d go on walks with me and remind me of my goals and that I didn’t need to eat a bag of chips.”

Nathan said, “Loneliness can be a huge factor in binge eating. Having a partner who is supportive in the process made it easy to say ‘no’ to an extra helping of food or ‘no’ at the grocery store when you’re putting those ‘treats’ in the grocery cart. Cherie and I were able to share our goals with each other and weren’t embarrassed about them because we’re partners.”

Cherie added, “Each day we told each other how much we weighed. We found different activities to do that wouldn’t be focused on food—daily walks with the kids, shopping together for food, cooking healthy dishes for dinners together, we went to movies together without buying the fattening treats.”

Nathan and Cherie said that it is crucial to keep track of your partner. “There is power in numbers and the fact that we shared our weights daily made it easy to keep each other accountable. If someone had a bad day then the other person was there to help them through it. We felt that this was much better than being secretive about it. All other diets we have tried, we would sneak food so neither would see. We made sure we didn’t do that with Slim.”

Cherie said, “My husband motivated me to keep losing weight. Words of encouragement from my husband, family and friends helped me to be where I am now. Seeing that I actually was losing weight kept me focused on working hard. Trying to get back to my girly figure again has been a chore for years but I’m finally there.”

“I’m so proud of Cherie and I for finishing 180 days in the challenge as strong as we did. As we motivated each other, we’re able to surpass our goals and we both feel great,” Nathan said.
